Patience

Today's mini seminary lesson was pretty good considering it was last minute.

Our topic, patience.
I made oobleck (cornstarch and water "slime").

For anyone unfamiliar with oobleck, it looks like slime and if you hold it then it melts in your hand like a liquid but if you try to force it to go faster or push at it then it acts like a solid.

And I talked about how something people and life in general are like the oobleck.
If you try to force things too fast without patience then both you and the "oobleck" just end up frustrated, use unnecessary energy, and make the situation more difficult.
But if you take it slow and move at the oobleck's pace then it goes smoothly with little effort.

After such a messy project, they needed baths.

I could use more patience with my ooblecks in life.
It seems that I inevitably struggle with whatever principle I try to teach my children.
In this case patience.

Other than my patience lesson...
Today Molly and Paige had their long awaited "swimming day" at the YMCA.
Molly has been begging to go, so I set a date on the calendar to make sure it would happen.
And it did.
They were so happy to be in the water.
Leila said she'd rather go to the childcare area to play.

We also did school.
Legos.
And more TV than I should have let happen.

In general, it was a good day.
Would have been better if I were more patient.
