Broken, Broken, Broken

Man, I was doing SO good today.

I folded an unfortunately ridiculous amount of clothing.

I felt like school went well.

We went to the grocery store (with no meltdowns from me or the kids).

There was a surprise package from an unknown source on our doorstep with sidewalk chalk.  (Which my kids don't do well with "unknown" and actually wrote a note with the sidewalk chalk on someone's doorstep asking if it was them to try and find out the secret friend.)

I cleaned the kitchen (a Christmas miracle, really).

The girls bathed.

Then nighttime comes.

"Time for bed girls!"

They were even pretty cooperative about it all.

Reach up to put the remote controls away...I bump my phone which is also up on the shelf....

*falling in slow motion*

....and BAM!  Hits the table underneath.

Broken.  *Sad face*

Eden:  "Its OK.  Just buy a new one."
Mom:  (Being all dramatic)  "I'm POOR!  I can't afford a new one.  The only reason I got this one was because Papa had an old one he wasn't using and he gave it to me."
Eden:  "Well, I have six dollars I've saved up.  I'll let you use that to help buy a new phone."
Leila:  "And I have a few dollars too."

Best. Children. Ever.

My heart broke....just like my phone.

Then after putting the kids to bed and shutting the blinds....

Dang it.  Really?

At least the things that really matter in life are intact.
